Bosses at Deep Sea World, Scotland’s national aquarium, have thanked the engineering team which helped re-open the Forth Bridge ahead of schedule.
News that the bridge would be closed for repairs until early in the New Year had caused major concern for the North Queensferry attraction, which traditionally welcomes thousands of visitors over the festive period.
Although they did suffer a decrease in visitor numbers in the run up to Christmas, the speedy repairs meant they were able to recover much of the shortfall before then end of the holidays.
Deep Sea World’s Adrian Dufffey said: “The bridge closure did have a major impact on our business, as it did many others in the area and also caused some huge difficulties for people over the Christmas period.
“However public safety was the most important factor and I’d like to personally thank the engineering team and workmen who did their very best to get the repairs done as swiftly as possible to minimise disruption.
“Now everything is pretty much back to normal we are looking forward to a busy start to 2016 and have a number of exciting initiatives planned to encourage new visits and to also give those who have visited before plenty of great reasons to return,” he added.
